Where we started

Golden came to us with something that not every design studio has: a team that genuinely cares - about the work, about each other and about their clients.

What they needed was clarity.

To build a strategy that would take them from where they were to where they wanted to be, Golden needed to:

  • Surface the pain and gain points across the business through a structured workshop and observation process.

  • Identify what was working well and what needed to change across client education, time & quality, and roles & responsibilities.

  • Translate those findings into a clear, actionable strategy spanning financial performance, people, process, new business, and innovation.

  • Align the team before making any changes, so the path forward was shared — not imposed.

Structure, process and empowering the team to shine

Financial — Set clear revenue targets, improving cashflow through alternative payment structures and introducing new products.

People — Introducing KPIs to benchmark average time per project and per stage, assessing roles and responsibilities to reduce bottlenecks and creating both formal and informal training pathways — from client relationship management to ArchiCAD and new rendering tools.

Process — Streamlining WIPs, improving project profitability through better fee structures and efficient time management, standardising deliverables and stage inclusions, introducing checklists and embedding a ‘right first time’ philosophy within the team.

New business & marketing — Building a stronger pipeline of potential work, investing in uplifting the sales flow, streamlining the proposal process, and getting more intentional about the types of projects worth prioritising - Projects we can be proud of.

Clients — Attracting the right clients, uplifting the teams client management skills and improving the client journey with a stronger focus on education, making the design process feel supported and clear, not overwhelming.

Innovation — Established less time-intense income streams, allocating budget for team excursions and inspiration-seeking and creating a culture for open collaboration.
