Where we started

Things We Do came to us with the energy and ambition that defines great creative operators - they could do it all, and they often did. But doing it all was starting to come at a cost.

To get from where they were to where they wanted to be, Things We Do needed to:

  • Get clear on what was worth their time and what was quietly eating into it.

  • Define and hold the line on scope, without becoming a business that hid behind it.

  • Build the internal processes and templates that would let them deliver consistently and confidently.

  • Create the conditions to hit their annual revenue targets without burning out getting there.

What we did

Anchored every decision to the north star

Before anything else, we established a clear goal. From there, every recommendation had a clear test: does this get us closer, or is it noise?

Established a sustainable pricing model

We mapped out three pricing scenarios and showed exactly what each meant for weekly income, monthly income, and annual revenue, establishing a sustainable target for workload.

Tackled waste systematically

We introduced a framework for identifying the types of waste quietly draining the business. Making waste visible was the first step to removing it, and it gave the team a shared language for spotting inefficiencies as they arose.

Redesigned the approach to scope

We defined an approach to scope that felt right to a company that can do it all. Clarity about oversight versus execution from the outset, reinforcing boundaries at each client touchpoint, and finding the quickest path to each client's goals to avoid busy work on both sides.

Building the foundation for growth

We introduced a systematic approach to capturing repeatable work. A growing resource library would become the foundation for any future hire, and would make the business feel as smooth to clients as it needed to feel internally.

Introduced a metrics framework to make progress visible

We set up a simple dashboard of four metrics to track quarterly. Numbers that mattered — nothing that didn't.

The Results

  • A clear revenue roadmap

  • A waste reduction framework that gave the team a shared language for inefficiency

  • Cleaner scope boundaries and a client process that felt smooth on both sides

  • A template and process library to support consistent delivery and future growth

  • A north star the whole business could make decisions against
